Former UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor released by kidnappers

 

Former Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Professor Ilochi Okafor, who was abducted by some unknown gunmen on Sunday regained his freedom on Wednesday.

The Law Professor was accosted and taken away in front of his residence at the Independence Layout in Enugu while leaving for church on Sunday.

DailyPost gathered that he was found blindfolded around the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Emene, Enugu on Wednesday.

An unconfirmed report revealed that the two-time Attorney General of the old Anambra state was able to regain his freedom after his family had allegedly parted with an undisclosed sum of money.

It would be recalled that following his kidnap, the Enugu State Police Command assured the safety return of the Professor and immediately swung into intensive investigation.
