Emmanuel Adebayor suspends international career

Captain of the Togolese national team, Emmanuel Adebayor, has suspended his participation in international football. The Tottenham striker, made this annoucement on Saturday in a statement released by his communications officer, Amedodji Blaise.

“Togo international and captain of the Sparrow Hawks Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor hereby brings to the notice of the general public that he is suspending his international career with Togo national team,” the statement read.

This comes a day after the local media, reported a long-running feud between the 28-year-old and central defender Nibombe Dare, who has a close relationship with the FA president Gabriel Ameyi.

The former Manchester City and Arsenal player had slammed the Togo Football Federation this week for holding on to the sum of €35,000, paid to the body by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, after a friendly played in Casablance on November 14.

The officials fired back, saying it was meant for the payment of match bonuses but to cover air tickets, hotel and feeding bills of the players and technical staff during the international friendly.
