It is unfair for Chelsea to be allowed into Europa League after their failure – Villas-Boas

Former Chelsea manager, Andre Villas-Boas, has taken a swipe at UEFA, for allowing his former club drop into the Europa League, after they finished third in their Champions League group.

“I’ve had this situation in the Europa League when I was at Porto and I think it is extremely unfair. You can’t give a bonus to teams that have failed,” the 34-year-old said.

The Portuguese saw his Tottenham Hotspur side progress to the last 32, after a 3-1 win over Panathinaikos at White Hart Lane, but the two London clubs cannot meet till the last 16.

“Sometimes it is destiny. Hopefully if we go through we can meet each other. If we do meet they will be two magnificent games.”
