NEMA confirms attack on Airtel and MTN masts in Kano
The National Emergency Management Agency has said that telecommunication masts belonging to Airtel and MTN, were this morning attacked in Kano state.The Head of Media and Publicity of the agency, Yashau Shuaib in a text message to our correspondent confirmed the incident.The message reads; “NEMA has confirmed the attacks on Telecomms masts belonging to Airtel and MTN at Old Parade Ground and Malali Road respectively in Kano Municipality today” Adding that “Security agents have cordoned off the area. No human casualty recorded so far.”
This year alone has witnessed dozens of attacks on telecommunication firms’ property. In some cases, the attackers either killed or injured security officers posted to guard the gadgets.
Meanwhile, no group has claimed responsibility for the latest attack yet.
