Nsima Ekere makes first public appearance after his resignation as Deputy Governor

 

Former Deputy Dovernor of Akwa Ibom state, Nsima Ekere, has made his first public appearance, weeks after his resignation as Deputy Governor of the state.

He was sighted among the attendees of this year’s edition of the annual ’9999′ Akwa Ibom state Governor’s Carol Service that held last night at the Uyo Township stadium.

The event had in attendance the first person of the state, Governor Godswill Akpabio and his wife, political chieftains, captains of industry, senior citizens, elder statesmen and Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

The Carol Night featured an international choir from Congo-Brazzaville, Chorale Divine De Merveilles, alongside a newly assembled 200-man classical choir, a 100-man orchestra, 35-man special choir and two world class gospel music icons from the United States, Alvin Slaughter and Donnie McClurkin.

It also featured four of the most outstanding female gospel musicians of Akwa Ibom origin, namely, Linda Etukudo, Anne Inyang, Pat Akpabio and Aity Dennis-Inyang.

The Uyo Township Stadium was filled to capacity with over 20,000 guests and 9,999 Carol Singers selected from the 31 local government areas of the state.

During the service, American gospel artist Donnie McCurklin surprised the citizens of the state with his special and fluent rendition of a popular Ibibio song ‘Amanam Eyen Abasi’.

Also, Governor Akpabio who stated that the “carol service was organised annually to unify all cultures, religions and sects of Nigeria”, led a one minute silence observed in honor of Nigerians who lost their lives in different disasters in 2012.
