AD commends President Jonathan’s administration

In recent times, President Goodluck Jonathan has come under intense criticisms by the opposition who have accused his government of being “slow” in addressing the problems of the nation.

However, a party that has practically gone into obscurity has thrown its weight behind the president, saying he deserves credit on the implementation of projects that promote dividends of democracy in the country.

In a press release in Abuja yesterday, the Alliance for Democracy (AD) through its National Secretary, Rafiu Salau, said: “It is the first government that has shown interest in cleaning the fraud in the oil and gas industry, the main source of revenue generation of the nation.”

“Government can stop the corruption in the industry in order to have the revenue that the industry can give the nation. Also, government policy to find solution to subsidy is in the right direction,” it said.

The party noted that the nation can build the capacity to refine and market enough petroleum products for West African countries. It added that the Federal Government’s plan in 2013 to introduce single digit interest rate on agricultural loan was commendable.

“It is one of the strategies that will create not only jobs but also industrial raw materials for many industries facing high cost of importation of raw materials. In addition, the nation will be able to feed itself and save its foreign exchange that is used to import food,” the statement concluded.
