Bright Dike’s strike earns Nigeria draw against Catalonia

Bright Dike’s superb finish, was enough to earn Nigeria a 1-1 draw against Catalonia on Wednesday evening.

The Catalonians started with Barcelona’s quartet of Xavi, Puyol, Pique and Montoya and outplayed the Super Eagles for the majority of the first half, before Stephen Keshi’s men forced themselves back into the game.

Sergio Gonzalez put the Catalonians ahead from the spot, after a defender handled the ball in the area and the first half ended that way, after the home side failed to increase their lead.

The game was more balanced in the second half, as the Nigerians began to express themselves better on the pitch. They grabbed the equaliser, with 33 minutes to go after Dike, who plays for Portland Timbers in the US, scored a fine goal.

The striker controlled a Onazi Ogenyi pass, turned a defender inside out and finished expertly with his left foot, to earn Nigeria a draw.
