Fire destroys seven cars at Ogun State Secretariat

Barely a week that part of the hilltop home of former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State was razed in an inferno , another fire incident had occurred in Ogun state.

DailyPost gathered that no fewer than seven cars belonging to the Ogun State Government were destroyed by fire set by some unknown persons to the bush behind the perimeter fence of the Ogun State Government Secretariat located in Oke-Masan, Abeokuta,Ogun state.

The cars were parked at the car park of the Obas complex at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs within the Governor’s Office.

It was gathered that the quick intervention of men of the state Fire Service curtailed the raging fire from further havoc.

DailyPost gathered that the cars were part of those retrieved from the immediate past chairmen of the local government caretaker committees in the state. The cars were completely burnt while the seventh one was partially touched by the fire which raged for over 30 minutes.

The Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Shuaib Salisu, said, “We appeal to people to desist from indiscriminate bush burning especially during the harmattan period.”
