The couple plan to fly a few friends and family members to Dubai for the grand wedding and 2face has booked several rooms in a few hotels in Dubai for their guests, including Burj Al Arab, the world’s most luxurious hotel, where he and Annie will spend some time after their wedding.

Wizkid removes EME from Twitter profile, amidst rumours he has quit music label

Posted by Unknown | | Posted in , , , , , , , , , , ,

Wizkid has deleted Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) from his Twitter bio, amidst speculations that he has left the music label.

The Banky W-owned EME, first spotted the sweet-voiced singer, when he was struggling to get a record deal and signed him on, from where he has become the superstar he is today. However, in the past weeks, there have been talk of Wizzie becoming bigger than the label and discontent from both parties.

From his adjustments on his Twitter profile, it seems the bubble has finally burst. Wizkid has removed both EME and Kovict Music and replaced them with Godwin Tom – who took over from Osagie Osarenkhoe last year and @DisturbingLDN (which is said to be Tinie Tempah’s people), as his new management team.

Wizkid also posted a series of cryptic tweets that read: “Moving on to start all over again!… F**k it!..” and “Don’t take loyalty for stupidity.. don’t!..”

Things are expected to become clearer in the coming days.

“My wife allows me to act nude roles” – Nollywood actor, Prince Eke, who married Muma Gee

Posted by Unknown | | Posted in

In an interview with the Sun Newspapers, popular Nollywood actor, Prince Eke, spoke about his marriage to Port Harcourt-based artiste, Muma Gee, his acting career and a lot of other interesting things.

Here are excerpts:

Who really is Prince Eke?

Prince Eke also known as Mr. Humility is an actor, model, writer and also a movie director. I come from Ngor-Okpala, Imo State and I’m the last of eight children, seven boys and a girl. The girl happens to be the first child. I am a Psychology graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. I did my Masters in International Relations in Imo State University. I am the CEO of G-cliff Nigeria Limited, an entertainment company. We are into branding, event planning, and movie production. We also have G-cliff Records under which Muma Gee is operating.

How was your growing up like?

Growing up was fun. I was going to school from the house as a day student. It was when I entered Holy Ghost College, Owerri that I became a boarding student. It was fun, those days I used to ride my mother’s motorbike before driving her car. It was fun but some days were rough though

When did you venture into acting?

I started acting in 2003 after my youth service and my first movie was Indecent Proposal, which was shot in Port Harcourt. Ever since then God has been faithful to me.

Did anybody try to discourage you from acting?

My people wanted me to read law but I said ‘no’ because my elder brother who happens to be a judge in Imo State was then a lawyer who had a chamber in Ojo, Lagos. I refused studying law because of him. I just didn’t like him because he was very disciplined. There was no time I would play pranks like other teenagers that I will go scot-free, he would always catch me. So, because of that, I developed a dislike for him as a teenager. I would say ‘which kind person be this, you no go fit play, he go catch you. And you say make I go read law and become like am?’ So, I said to myself ‘I won’t study law, I don’t want to be a lawyer like him. He doesn’t want me to become what I want; if he sees me with a person he will flog me, why?’ One day, he said to me ‘I don’t want to see you with a girl on this street, get your admission first, when you enter the university you will see more beautiful babes’. Not until recently I realized that he was the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Tell us more about your late parents, how has life being after their death?

My parents are late. My father was director of schools in Imo State as at 1981, he actually died as a University of Jos lecturer in 1986. My mum died in 2007, I am the last child in the family, I have six elder brothers. They didn’t pamper me rather I got the beating of my life. You know how it is when you’re asked to do something and you didn’t do it, they would come together to beat me. They were like ‘I don’t want this boy to spoil, mama, you are over pampering this boy’ and before I knew it I would begin to get slaps from left, right and center.

Which among your parents do you miss most?

My mum because I didn’t spend much time with my dad. He died 26 years ago while my mum died just five years ago.

Who among your siblings, teachers or parents inspires you most?

My mum, she was my best friend and my elder brothers too, they have given me good advices, if not for them I won’t be where I am today. My mum actually was a school teacher, and being the last born, I was admitted into primary one at the age of four because there was no one to stay with her. So, I usually went to school with her. I started driving her car at the age of 15 or 16. I was so close to my mom. My parents were teachers and also disciplinarians.

You have stopped acting since you got married in December 2011, is it because of your marriage to Muma Gee?

No, I have not slowed down, the truth of the matter is that I am on another level right now and I don’t just take roles the way they come these days. I am being selective on the kind of role I play so that I won’t kill my career. I have gotten to a level where I should select the kind of roles I play. Actually, I happened to be the first Nigerian living inside Nigeria to get a Hollywood contract.

Has it been easy marrying a star like you?

I don’t think there is anything to it, it’s just a normal thing, and we are living our lives like best of friends. She is a star and I am a star also but we don’t really see ourselves like stars. We see ourselves like friends, we play, we laugh, and we respect each other’s feelings.

How do you encourage people who want to get married to a star like you?

Marriage is a beautiful thing. I think its more beautiful when you get married to a celebrity because both of you will always be recognized anywhere you go. Most people will say celebrities are rude, they are not humble but I don’t think so. For instance, my wife cooks my food. I don’t eat out and the cook does not even prepare my food, the only person that cooks for me is my wife. So, I see it as a normal thing.

It has always been that celebrity marriages don’t last?

People always say that celebrity marriage do not last but I do not believe in what people say. I am a different person, a different entity, I am not just a human being, I am a super human being. Where others fail, I succeed. It’s my identity, where others go and sit I am standing and I am outstanding. In my marriage, opting out is not an option. My marriage is the best and so shall it remain the best. If anybody believes that celebrity marriage will always break, mine is an exception.

Do you keep your wife away from your activities like some actors do?

I don’t have to keep my wife away from things I do, she is a professional, and I am a professional also. She knows when to allow me do my thing. After we had our traditional marriage, the first movie I did, I was naked in it. The movie was produced by Chijioke Nnaji and entitled, Mirror of Life. I had to call her and say ‘sweetie, I am going naked in this movie’, and she said ‘wait, are you showing your bum bum in the movie?’ I said ‘yes’, She then asked ‘are you showing your dick?’ I said ‘no’ and she said ‘okay, do your thing’.

How do you strike a balance, you’re into acting and she’s into music. How do you manage?

We put families first. The whole thing is very simple. Life is very simple when you understand it. I can’t remember the last time I tried to differentiate between my family and career, they are two different things wrapped up in one. That is what makes me. When I finish shooting I go back and stay with my family. If am not working, I stay at home all day. If I have to go and shoot, I tell my wife ‘sweetie, I am off to location’, she understands. Most times, she comes to location with me but stays in the hotel. While I was shooting a movie in Abuja she kept coming almost every two weeks and I stayed in Abuja for three months. So, I don’t really feel the distance.

How did your wife feel after acting nude in a movie?

She understands that I am doing my job. I am doing my job, really.

So far, what is your experience in marriage?

Yea, the year I’ve spent in marriage has been awesome. It’s a wonderful experience. You know, marriage comes with little misunderstanding here and there, once in a while but there is nothing wrong with misunderstanding. So, for me the year has been awesome. The people who believe that celebrity marriages will always break up, they shouldn’t worry, they will celebrate the golden jubilee with me.

People say that you are going into politics; is it true?

I am an actor not a politician, I am not going into politics but if I have to do anything for a politician, I will do it. All you need do is contract me and once you pay my bills, I will do it but for now I am not going into politics.

Let’s talk about the project you are doing with the government?

It’s a movie project. I did it with the Rivers State government in Port Harcourt, and it was a theme song that my wife did for the 17th annual sports festival entitled, Garden City Games. She did the theme song for the local organizing committee and the deputy governor of Rivers State, Engr. Telle Okoye sponsored the video shoot which I directed. So that doesn’t make me a politician.

You are one of the ‘bad boys’ in Nollywood, how do you cope with female admirers?

They come and go. The truth of this is that these bees are always attracted to the honeycomb; people are attracted to their opposites, so it’s not a new thing but God has been wonderful for His wisdom to handle it. I handle my fans well especially my female fans, I relate with them, get close to them but I keep a level because I will not want my rapport or relationship with a fan to destroy my home.

What is the craziest thing a fan has done to you?

A girl kissing me on the road but she actually got a hot slap from my girlfriend that time, I wasn’t married then. It happened in Owerri two years ago. I got down from a car and was about entering a supermarket when a fan saw me. She crossed the road, rushed to where I was standing, hugged and gave me a kiss. My then girlfriend just came down from the car and gave her a hot slap and that actually broke the relationship with her.

Now you are married, what do you miss?

When you use the word ‘miss’ it’s like you yearn for them to come back, I don’t miss anything. But sometimes when I hear my friends say to themselves that ‘we are going clubbing this night, e get one babe wey dey find me come’, I’ll say that marriage will make you a responsible man because I can’t just wake up and jump into my car and say I am going to the club. No, I don’t club anyhow anymore. Even those days before I got married, I never used to club like that. Sometimes I miss those days of hanging out with chicks but this time around, it’s strictly my wife and I.

Though Chioma is still being addressed with her maiden name, we gathered that she was introduced as the wife of the consul General during a business dinner with the Ekiti state Governor in the state capital on Thursday.

A photograph of the couple with the Governor was anonymously sent to the media, describing the model as the diplomat’s wife.

“Sources close to the Ekiti State government house confirmed that she was introduced as the wife of the Consul General which informed why the caption of the photograph of the couple with the Governor sent to the media described Chioma as the diplomat’s wife.” A local newspaper reported.

Dencia 1Sultry singer, Dencia, has taken a clean swipe at those who condemn nudity in music videos.

Recently, the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), banned seven videos including P-Square’s ‘Alingo’ and Timaya’s ‘Bom Bom’, for sexual content and Dencia feels all these is killing the dance culture, which in her opinion includes showing off cleavage, etc.

She tweeted: “Y do Africans complain about ass & boobs shaking in videos when its part of the dance culture? I’ve bin to villages where they dance naked.”

Although most of Dencia’s videos are provocative, none has ever been banned by the NBC.

“I cannot marry Denrele and I was never a stripper” – Karen Igho

Posted by Unknown | | Posted in , , , , , , , , , , ,

Karen-Igho-2In an exclusive interview with the NET, winner of Big Brother Africa Amplified, Karen Igho, opened up on a lot of issues, including the reality show, her relationship with Denrele Edun and the infamous squabble at a Smirnoff gig.

Excerpts:

What has changed about you since you won the show in 2011?

I am still Karen Igho, but a mature one. A lot has changed. I am older and wiser now. You will not catch me doing certain things. I have seen life in a different way and I know a lot more now.

How does it feel being the reigning Nigerian with the Big Brother crown?

I feel very honoured and privileged that I still have the position as the last Nigerian winner of the show. However, I must add that to win the BBA is not a joke, whoever will, has to be a lot more entertaining than myself, Uti and Kevin Pam put together. I just think it is not time yet for a Nigerian. It’s just the right person needed.

What do you think was responsible for your victory?

I would say God. While I was preparing for the show, the last thing on my mind was how to win. I just wanted to have fun and learn as much as I could. I was lucky to understand that the best strategy for such games is to have no strategy to avoid unnecessary surprises.

What do you mean by unnecessary surprises?

Unnecessary surprises can be anything. You can wake up one day and realise you have been betrayed by a fellow housemate. We were young individuals locked in a room with cameras and constantly watched by millions of people. It was psychologically draining. We all had to fight for attention, respect and win games too. We needed to shout, be crazy or cause trouble to get all these.

What is your take on Nigeria’s performance at the last edition?

Let me first congratulate all of them for going there. I cannot blame any of them or say exactly what went wrong. Ola and Chris left on health grounds, which is a cogent reason. One’s health is a lot more important than money, but if they both had remained in that house, they would have won. Goldie too did her best. They are all cool people but I guess it was not time for a Nigerian.

Do you think Goldie was being true or was playing a game?

I cannot say anything about that because I am not Goldie. I don’t know if she was being real or fake. I can only speak for myself. I was real and I did my thing but we are different.

Do you still feel hurt about the stories wriiten about you while in the house?

Not any more  I have forgiven everybody involved. The things written about me were not only false and untrue but slanderous too. I was locked up in the house and could not defend myself. People believed these untrue stories, about me and it continued to spread but I thank God I won the show and I have been able to win the hearts.

Which of the stories got you most?

The one about me being a stripper was untrue. It still baffles me till date. I was locked up for 90 days with a sum of money at stake and as crazy as I was, I didn’t kiss or have sex with any guy and people could still write that I was a stripper.

Were you a stripper?

I was never a stripper. People don’t even know anything about me but are quick to believe the terrible things they heard. My mom is a very strong Christian and she built my spirituality. People who saw me like a wild card girl do not understand what it is being locked in a room with lots of alcohol and nothing to do. It is impossible not to misbehave but once you are back into the normal world, things change. How many times have I being caught smoking in public?

What then were you doing while in the UK?

My uncle helped with my trip to the UK and I went there to study. I studied Business Administration in Southwark College during which I took a summer class in Theatre Arts. All through my stay there, I survived in a legit way. I joined the UNICEF and other charity organisations, which had African countries in mind. I was also a sales girl for Karen Millen.

Which of the stories were true?

My having a rough childhood was true. My being a stripper wasn’t true. The breast story was true. I genuinely did the implant because I had breast lumps and two of my sisters have done the same (operations).

Tell us about your growing up

I am the first born of ten siblings. My family is a loving and caring one. They stood by me during the Big Brother days. My mother fought severally to defend me. I am from the Urhobo in Delta state, but I was born in Plateau state. I schooled in Jos and Warri. My growing up was not easy. My parents were separated and I had to live with my grand mum. It was not easy at all but I thank God.

What did you do with the money?

I built a house for my mum, another for my grand mum and I invested the rest. I am still hustling to make more money.

What is happening to your clothing line?

Karenified is still there. I rushed the first collection to meet with my birthday last year and because I wanted to raise some money for an orphanage, I planned to visit. It was successful but I want it bigger, so now I am taking my time and getting to understand the creative side of me better because I want it to reflect in the designs.

How did acting come into the picture?

While I was in the UK, studying business administration, I took a summer course in acting and tried my hands on some Shakespearian works. That and many other experiences I gathered improved my confidence in acting and presenting which are some of the things I now do.

What is your relationship with Denrele?

God brought Denrele into my life in a funny way in 2008. I just came back for a holiday (from UK) and my cousins invited me to his birthday party. There we met and exchanged contacts and became friends. He has been instrumental to where I am today and I am very grateful.

How true is the story that you both are dating?

Somebody started the joke on twitter recently and it went viral. Denrele is my brother and he knows the kind of guys I like.

Can you marry Denrele?

I don’t know the future but Denrele and I cannot get married. We have become one family.

Why are you yet to be married?

No be man go come first? Let’s just say I am waiting for God’s time but I am still working on my career and build the brand.

What kind of man do you like?

I want a God fearing and down to earth man and there must be strong chemistry.

Which Nigerian male celebrity will you date?

I know quite a few and would not want to call names. Besides most of them are married. If I mention anybody, you people (press) will be on my neck and once you see me with the person, another story begins. Nigerian acts are all wonderful people.

How did you get the Naija FM job?

I got the Naija FM job through Collete Otusheso (MTV). She encouraged me and introduced me to my boss, Gbemi (Olateru Olagbegi), Deji Awokoya (Beat FM) and since then, its been fun for me. I love the Naija FM family.

How was your first day on air?

I was nervous. I almost peed in my pant. I was confused and didn’t know what to do, but thanks to Ifektive and my other colleagues, they made it very easy for me and now I am loving it.

What project are you working at the moment?

At the moment, I am working on a Rukky Sanda movie and I have also gotten an invitation to be a part of a soap opera that will be aired across Africa.

What is the update on your assault case with Simrnoff gig?

We agreed to settle out of court because at the end of the day, the deed has been done and the lesson learnt. I also hope that with this the government stands up and ensure that our force men are properly trained on how to relate with the citizens

CPC honours Charlyboy, Patience Jonathan at its NICA Awards

Posted by Unknown | Thursday, 24 January 2013 | Posted in , , , , , , , , ,

The Consumer Protection Council (CPC) in its renewed interest to encourage public officers and individuals who have doggedly and painstakingly contributed to the protection of consumer’s rights in Nigeria through various legitimate ways had on Thursday doled out awards to deserving Nigerians.

The event that held at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers considered several prominent Nigerians who have lived up to expectation in consumer related matters for different awards. Among the recipients of the different awards were her Excellency, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, Charlyboy, AKA AreaFada and a host of others.

Charlyboy, who was given one of the highest awards alongside the First Lady, was honored with the Nigerian Consumer Ambassador Award (NiCA). This award, according to the organizers was in consideration of his several activities relating to the protection of consumer’s rights, especially as a dogged fighter and a social crusader who has maintained a steady ground behind Nigerian consumers.

It would be recalled that Charlyboy during his tenure as the PMAN president had stood against piracy, taking the fight to Alaba and other places where laws on intellectual property were completely violated. His action was a wakeup call to Nigerian Musicians and other artists who were working without intellectual and creative compensation. His campaign against piracy gave the industry a new face, hence the present success in the Music industry as consumers of music and films are beginning to enjoy better productions from its original source.

Also featured in the CPC awards were Service Excellence Award, Product Excellence Award, and Corporate Social Responsibility Award.

Responding, Charlyboy commended the organizers for such a thoughtful and remarkable event, pledging his continuous support for CPC as an Ambassador. According to him, “You see, this Award will boost our continuous selfless service for Nigerian consumers. It shows that some people appreciate some of the little effort we make to ensure that consumers enjoy the value of what they pay for. In a predominant capitalist environment like ours, there is a tendency that the people get exploited by the bourgeois materialists, but some people must always stand in their defense. This needs a lot of sacrifice. I pledge my continuous support for CPC as we all hope for a better Nigeria.

One year after: Son opens up on Lekinson’s death, drugs, career and women

Posted by Unknown | | Posted in , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Wednesday, Jan 26, 2012 was one of such sad days when one woke up with the news that death has dealt the Nigerian entertainment industry a blow. That was actually the day Lekan Oladipo a.k.a Giorgio Lekinson, a foundation member of the Yoruba genre of Nigerian home videos lost the battle to cancer of the lung.
Interestingly, Lekinson’s disappearance from the movie scene before he died early last year remains the reason some movie buffs still find it hard to believe that he’s dead! It would be recalled that Lekinson, who would forever be remembered for his slangs and good interpretation of the role of fraudster in most Yoruba films, battled with drug related problems and when family and friends thought Giorgio Lekinson had cheated death, the gifted actor passed on.
Barely a year ago and when many people may be wondering if Lekinson left a grown up child who will step into his shoes, it’s amazing that Babatunde Oladipo, the eldest son, has picked up the trade where his father left it. With just three years in the industry, Armani Arante as Yabatech’s graduate of Business Administration is popularly called, is leaving no stone unturned to hit the spotlight at one shot. Apart from picking roles in popular films like ‘Omolabake’, ‘Oko Obinrin’, ‘Figurine’ among few others, Armani Arante is getting set to hit location for his personal film project that may come after premiering Irosun Meji, Lekinson’s last movie which he never lived to released.

Recalling how he gets into acting, “Apart from the fact that I picked after my father, to be a successful actor has been my childhood ambition but my father do tell me to finish my education before going to acting. My passion for acting grew when I started following him to movie locations. While in higher institution, I opted for Business Administration because of my love for banking job but life later played me its card as I’m back to my first love which is acting,” Armani said.

Little or nothing might have been read about the life and death of great Lekinson, Armani revealed the private parts of his father. “It’s no doubt that my father was a ladies’ man but it may shock you that my mother remained his only wife whom they had two kids together, I and my younger brother, Abiodun. My father’s drug problem could be traced back to when he went to India to study acting. On his return from India my mother noticed his change of attitude and one day she caught him sniffing a white substance suspected to be cocaine which led to a serious argument and fight.

“All efforts by family members to persuade him to give up on the bad habit proved abortive. This affected his growing acting career and he was shut out of the scene for some years before he returned as a King in the old popular home video titled ‘Koto Aiye’, in 2002. The dope thing messed up his career before he later quit.

In 2007 Lekinson, who was a board member of Osun State’s Art and Culture during the time of Governor Oyinlola, was diagnosed of cancer of the lung. We thought he would die but Lekinson survived the terminal illness that left him bed ridden for two years. He fully recovered and bounced back in 2009 before he eventually died in 2012.

“It was a natural death; my father did not die of any sickness as reported. On that sad day, Lekinson complained of tiredness and contemplating of going to the hospital the next day but his elder brother encouraged him to go that day which he agreed, but he died on his way to the hospital,” Armani revealed.

Speaking further about the life and time of Lekinson who featured in countless numbers of popular home videos, son said, “He was a trained actor who doesn’t take nonsense. If I could recollect, the last thing he told me was, I should be wary of unnecessary intimacy, to always be myself and Lekinson told me point blank that he needed a grandson. At the moment, we are planning a one year remembrance of his death and probably released his last personal film titled ‘Irosun Meji’,” Armani concluded.

Don JazzyDon Jazzy has dismissed claims that he has a son from a failed marriage in the UK.

Just yesterday, several reports went viral on the Internet, which claimed the Mavin boss was once married and had a child with a mystery woman. In an interview, which the sources credited to Punch Newspapers, Don Jazzy allegedly said: “I’m single because I’ve not found the woman that my spirit agrees with.

“I was once married in the United Kingdom, but it was short lived. The union produced a son named after me. I don’t want to experience a collapsed marriage again. That is why I am taking my time, working and praying for a soul mate.”

However, he has now taken to Twitter to deny such rumours, calling the stories false. One of his fans sent him a tweet asking about the existence of the child and he replied firmly: “Unless u re the son, this is FALSE.”

Information made available to Daily Post, has it that the much anticipated wedding between 2face and Annie Idibia, will not hold again on February 14, 2013.

According to sources, “instead of the hugely expected February/Valentine wedding, Idibia is hoping to stage a lovers’ concert on February 14, in partnership with Now Muzik and Edi Lawani’s Showbiz Network Services. The pop icon will also honour other performance engagements in and around Lagos.”

“Forget all the noise about February 14, Innocent and his wife have other grand plans up their sleeves and are not ready to give up the details just yet,” another source told the NET.

Idibia’s publicist, Bayo Omisore, also confirmed that he was unaware of any dates, except his client gives him one.

This new development comes amidst talk that the wedding, which was intially planned for Abuja, will now hold in Dubai.

Miss Ikeji, who had a similar face-off with the controversial Iyke last year, had infact added the caption ‘Jim Iyke Shows Off Six Pack’ …‘Every time I write about this dude he comes after me on Twitter, but I must do my job na…lol. Nice body’ beneath the picture.

If she was expecting a backlash, she certainly got it from Iyke, who took to his Twitter page to call her names.

“It’s m handle and my space. I do wit it wtf I pls. If dat hermophrodite witch LINDA n her lame employees dt like it then hug a transformer!” he tweeted via his @jimiykeofficial handle.
