Sultry singer, Dencia, has taken a clean swipe at those who condemn nudity in music videos.
Recently, the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), banned seven videos including P-Square’s ‘Alingo’ and Timaya’s ‘Bom Bom’, for sexual content and Dencia feels all these is killing the dance culture, which in her opinion includes showing off cleavage, etc.
She tweeted: “Y do Africans complain about ass & boobs shaking in videos when its part of the dance culture? I’ve bin to villages where they dance naked.”
Although most of Dencia’s videos are provocative, none has ever been banned by the NBC.

Former vice president
Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the content of a book, “The Accidental Public Servant”, authored by former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasir El-rufai.
Reacting via his Facebook page, the Turakin Adamawa said it was unfortunate that El-rufai could say a number of untrue things about him.
Atiku in the message said: “It amazes me that el-Rufai can pass off fiction for self-gratification at the expense of truth as a book.
“El-Rufai’s attack on my person is to say the least not surprising considering that this is the same man who has notoriety for disparaging religions and their icons, including lately Jesus Christ.
“If he could go to such irreverent extent to disparage religious icons, who is an ordinary mortal like me? It is my belief that any man that can cross the boundary of reason and decency deserves prayers rather than anger.
“I wish to state that the book is as a collection of fiction, half-truths, exaggeration and reflection of selective memory.
He said he was particularly piqued by the claim of el-Rufai that he had almost resigned as the former
Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (
BPE) because of alleged persistent pressure and interference by me as Chairman of the National Council on Privatization.
Atiku noted that the former FCT Minister forgot so soon what he said at the Senate Public Hearing on
BPE August 8-13, 2011. That committee, which did an amazing work, was headed by Senator Ahmed Lawan.
Speaking further, he said “We need to recall el-Rufai as saying he had special relationship with former
President Obasanjo, which gave him direct access and the discretion to bypass the Council on Privatization then headed by me in order to get the approval of the President.
He wonder how el-Rufai could reconcile his threat of resignation with the accounts he told the Senate about the latitude of freedom he enjoyed at
BPE because of his closeness to former
President Obasanjo.
In that testimony, el-Rufai told the Senate that, and I quote: “Thank you very much Distinguished Senator. Mr. Chairman, as a matter of principle Mr. Chairman, I am reluctant to judge my successors. So, whenever I do a job, I move on; I don’t comment on what my successors have done. All I can say is this. Mr. Chairman, if you go through my tenure in
BPE, you will see that we try to do everything by the rules, by the book. And we resisted every attempt at political interference. There is a process; step by step. Privatization is a mechanical process. Once you have the process published, every step should not be missed. And there was never a time that we deviated from that process.
“We took everything we did to the privatization council. That’s how we ran the place. And I swear to God, I am under oath. Except for one time that the vice president called me and said; look I’ve got calls from A and B to help this guy win this, I said Mr. Vice president you know the rules, tell him to bid the highest price because the highest price wins and he said yes I know, I am just telling you in case they contact you. And I don’t want them to say I didn’t pass on their requests. That was the only time. But no one tried to interfere with my work. There were attempts to block it.
President Obasanjo blocked the privatization of Nigeria airways practically. Okay because Kema Chikwe will go and tell him stories. And what is the result today. The company is dead.”
“The claim by el-Rufai that former
President Obasanjo went on bended knees before me to seek his cooperation for second term bid in 2003, is a figment of his own wild imagination.
“Such claim lacks any credibility because Obasanjo and I were alone together behind closed doors.
“I wonder whether el-Rufai was a fly on the wall to discuss the details of a private meeting between the two of us.
Atiku concluded by saying that he believes that rather than el-Rufai feeding the public with such fabrications, the former Minister should have provided or quoted the authority for such claim since he was not at the private meeting between former
President Obasanjo and me.

Former Minister of the Federal capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has revealed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was scared jittery that late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua would arrest him.
He made this known In his book, “The Accidental Public Servant,” adding that Obasanjo had considered the Yar’Adua/Jonathan presidency in 2007 weak.
According to El-rufai,“There are those who say Obasanjo’s revenge for his third term defeat was intentionally picking two incompetent people to be president and vice-president, but I do not full agree with that. I think Obasanjo picked them for a different reason. He thought they were weak people he could control and through whom he would continue to exercise power. I think that he thought Yar’Adua would be an acceptable president, but would be weak and subservient to him in many policy areas and would be consulting him regularly so that Obasanjo might be a Lee Kuan Yew sort of figure exercising power from behind the scenes.”
“If I am just naรฏve and the ticket that ended up succeeding Obasanjo was meant to be a third term revenge, it did not exactly work out. Yar’Adua revolted against him, reversed virtually everything he did and even began investigating him. Obasanjo recently admitted to a close friend of ours that throughout the years Yar’Adua was in power, he was constantly in fear of being arrested because it was clear to him that at some point, Yar’Adua was after him.
Speaking about the issue of the ejection of former Chairman, Code of Conduct Tribunal, the late
Justice Bashir Sambo from his official residence in 2006, the former head of the Bureau of Public Enterprise insisted that the jurist was an illegal tenant in the house.
He said “Perhaps the most publicised controversy arising from the sale of houses programme was the ejection of
Justice Bashir Sambo in August 2006 from his official residence located at 1, Aso Drive, Maitama District. At the time, the carefully choreographed media war led by the Daily Trust newspaper was going on, I chose to maintain silence, and just directed the Secretariat to put out full-page adverts explaining what it had done and why. I thought that was the end of it.
“Sadly, less than a year later,
Justice Sambo who was former chairman of Code of Conduct Tribunal, died on April 29, 2007 in a Cairo Hospital. He was 76 years old and had been ill for some time.
“For that reason, I decided never to join issues with those who thought that the ejection of the deceased jurist was inappropriate and went as far as suggesting that it was the cause of his “premature” death.
“I will simply tell my side of the story on the sale of the house in question, subsequent cancellation, and the actions that followed naturally with reference only to letters written by
Justice Sambo, himself and the other officials in the government.
“These exchanges of correspondence culminated in my directive to the sales secretariat on July 17, 2006 to eject him immediately from the house in question because he had by then become an illegal tenant.

Several weeks after 11 children, between the ages of five months and two years were abducted in Ishiagu, Ivo local government of Ebonyi State, their whereabouts remain unknown.
The children were reportedly abducted at Ishiagu, home town of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.
A reliable source in the community said the trend started December last year with the abduction of four children, adding that only recently six others were abducted, bringing the number to eleven.
DailyPost learnt that all the eleven children abducted are settlers in the community.
Already, the situation has taken another dimension as residents of Ishiagu are accusing the police in the state of complicity in the abduction.
Residents who alleged that policemen in Ishiagu divisional police station were aiding the kidnappers, said efforts they were making to stem the tide were being frustrated by the police in Ishiagu division.
When our correspondent visited the Mile 2 Area in Ishiagu where 2 year old Chiemere Emmanuel and eight month, Chidubem Emmanuel were abducted, their mothers Blessing and Nnenna respectively lamented that since the abduction of their children, nothing had been heard from either the police or from the government.
The youth leader of the community, Mr. Chijioke Njoku, who also spoke to DailyPost alleged that Ebonyi state government and in fact the council chairman of Ivo LGA were not torched by the development because the abducted children were not indigenes of Ishiagu.
He said: “It is no longer news that our children are being kidnapped, even on the 19th and 20th of December, 2012 in Ayaragu children were kidnapped.
On 29th of December, along this Afikpo-Okigwe Road, a woman who was coming back from Ayaragu area with her child was intercepted by gunmen, they pushed her and her child into a car; along the road, they pushed her out and took her child away. Till now the family has not seen the child”.
On the effort of the community, he said: “Two or three weeks ago we intercepted two vehicles- Jetta and Mercedes Benz; the Jetta over ran us while we seized the Mercedes Benz.
“When we stopped the occupants of the car, they even tried to fight us. One of them ran away living the driver of the car.
“The suspect was later handed over to the police, with the warning that they should not toy with the case. Painfully, nothing serious came out of that case”.
Continuing, he said: “We are appealing to the government to help us. Everyday we come to this place to keep night watch in an effort to see whether we can stop this abduction, but the police are not backing us”.
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relation Officer, (PPRO), DSP Sylvester Igbo who was contacted on phone, did not make any comment.

One of the traders in Gatankowa market, oke-odo, Lagos, Taofeeq Shobulo, is to serve six months prison terms, for allegedly urinating in a pot of soup and provoking breach of peace on the 17th of January.
The 38-year-old convict, who pleaded guilty to the charges, was sentenced on Tuesday by an Ojokoro Senior
Magistrates’ Court.
His prosecutor, Lugard Ahonle told the court that “Shobulo had asked the food vendor, Olayiwola Olayemisi, to sell food to him on credit which she refused because, according to her, the accused was fond of eating without paying.
“The accused later came back while the food vendor was not paying attention and urinated into her pot of soup,’’ he said.
The prosecutor noted that the offence contravened Sections 136 and 411 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State.
Presiding over the case, the Magistrate K. O. Ogundare sentenced the trader to six moths imprisonment saying “having found you Taofeeq Shobulo, guilty, you are hereby sentenced to six-months imprisonment which will be served concurrently.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has opposed the request by former Gombe State governor, Danjuma Goje to transfer his trial for conspiracy and money laundering from the Federal High Court Gombe to Abuja. Goje and five others (Aliyu El-Nafaty, Sambo Tumu, S.M. Dokoro and S.M. Dokoro Gombe) are standing trial before Justice Babatunde O. Quadri. At today sitting, the defence team led by Chris Uche, SAN drew the court’s attention to the letter written to the Chief Justice of the Federation for change of venue and transfer of the case from the present court in Gombe to Abuja or any other jurisdiction outside Gombe state for security reasons. He urged the court to suspend proceedings while awaiting the directive from the CJN, before hearing of the pending application. But prosecution Counsel, Wahab Shittu objected, saying the court can continue with the matter pending any response from the CJN.
Justice Quadri upheld the prosecution’s argument and urged both counsel to consider the stress of coming from outside Gombe and seize the opportunity of time.
Arguing his motion for transfer before the court, Chris Uche, SAN quoted sections of the Federal High Court Act 2004 and the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to support his motion. He predicated his request on the grounds that the matter is a high profile one and that the security situation in the North East zone with regularly reported incidents of killings, kidnappings, bomb blasts and assassinations underline the need to protect the lives of the accused persons and their lawyers.
In his response, Shittu, called the court’s attention to the fact that in all the proceedings prior to the application, there had been no incident in court to warrant the request for transfer. According to Wahab, “this application lacks merit and only determined to delay the wheel of justice and your lordship is entitled to resist it”. He further queried the intention of the defence: “What is the application saying, that your lordship should transfer this case to Abuja? The presumption is that Abuja is safe to hear this case. Do we believe them? Or is the applicant saying that the case should be transferred to the Villa since they deposed in paragraph 13 of their affidavit that the last Independence Day was moved out of its traditional place – the Eagle Square -to the villa for security reasons?”
Shittu urged the court to throw out the application as acceding to it would be tantamount to setting a precedence which may encourage other persons with cases before the court to seek transfer of their cases to choice places.
Justice Quadri has fixed ruling on the matter for today, January 23, 2013.

In an atmosphere of constant defence, President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday defended his administration while being confronted with sensitive security questions regarding Nigeria.
The president who was in an interview with Christine Amapour on CNN said Boko Haram terrorist organization was not a product of misrule or poverty.
Jonathan said, “The sect was not borne out of misrule, definitely not; sometimes people feel it is a result of poverty, but no. Boko Haram is a local terror group and that’s why we call on the rest of the world to work with us and that is why we are talking about Algeria, we are talking about northern Mali and our belief is that if you allow terror to exist in any part of the world, it will not just affect that country or that state, it will affect the rest of the globe and we should not play politics with Boko Haram.”
Jonathan had said that the Boko Haram crisis that is gradually taking over some African countries must be contained as quick as possible before it takes over the entire continent.
He said “Definitely, Boko Haram, if it is not contained, will be a threat. Not only to Nigeria, but to West Africa, North Africa, and Central Africa and of course we know that we have element of Boko Haram link up with some of the al Qeada operating in Northern Mali and other North African countries,” Jonathan said in the nightly programme monitored in Lagos.
Jonathan pledged to work with friendly governments around the world to challenge the menace. He said “ we are ready to work with other nationals and friendly governments to make sure that we contain the problems in the sub-region.”
Making reference to the Algerian terror attacks where about 37 people were killed last week, Amanpour had asked the president whether Nigeria was prepared to contain attacks of such magnitude, and he responded thus; “Yes, what happened in Algeria was unfortunate. That is why the government has been working day and night to make sure that we prevent such excesses,”
The President had denied media report that security forces were killing innocent Nigerians in the Northern Nigeria. He had described the report as mere insinuations by some political motivated interest groups.”
Jonathan stood his ground to defend his administration regarding power supply in the country.
Reacting to Amanpour’s question on whether he had fulfilled part of his promises three years ago of ensuring stable power supply in the country, he responded thus; “I would have loved that you ask ordinary Nigerians on the street of Lagos, Abuja or any other city this question about power. This is one area that Nigerians are quite pleased with the government that our commitment to improve power is working. So if you are saying something different, I’m really surprised. That is one area that even civil societies agree that the government has kept faith with its promise.
“We have not got to where we should be and of course we know that power infrastructure is one investment that you must complete the chain before a bulb can light. You must generate, you must transmit, you must distribute and even if you have the money and the political will, you cannot do it overnight and we are working very hard, you cannot do it overnight.”
Jonathan had also opened up when Amanpour made him to understand that she had received several text messages from Nigerians that they may not watch the interview due to Power outage. He accepted that his government was yet to meet the target it had set for a total result to be achieved in the power sector.
The President also affirmed that foreign companies were guilty of crude oil theft in Nigeria, adding that most of the stolen crude was being bought by refineries abroad.
“Frankly speaking, we want the international community to support Nigeria because this stolen crude is being bought by refineries abroad and they know that the crude oil is stolen. The world must condemn what is wrong. The stolen crude is refined abroad, not refined in Nigeria,” he concluded

Well, like we would say, these kind of things only happen in Nigeria.
We really can’t figure out the concept behind this wedding reception, but our rough guess is that the couple love the idea of Burj Arab in Dubai, and were keen on recreating something close to it here.
However, they scaled down theirs to a swimming pool, not the middle of an ocean.

Many have seen how dilapidated the police quarters are, possibly have heard how horrible the Nigerian Police cells can be. The reality is right from the Academy, the Nigerian Police officer has known no better way to live.
A Channels TV documentary on the life of students living in the Nigerian Police College Ikeja, Lagos has revealed the deplorable conditions they face. Its an irony that these students will later graduate to become policemen and women.
Channels TV had the opportunity to film a meal-time at the training college at Ikeja, Lagos, the crew recounted how they watched as the cadets struggled to get their bellies filled with substances not fit enough to call food. About 50 trainees were seen sharing one head of fish.
The documentary shows the sad state of the dormitories, the toilets and more. Students were seen urinating at the back of the building where the drainage system has broken down completely. The toilets and bathrooms are in such terrible conditions, one wonders how students manage to use them.
The college’s male dormitory 10, is one of those built by Nigerian colonial masters in 1940. Today, its windows and doors are damaged with no plans for any repairs. There is no electricity and the occupants point out blood stains from bed bug bites.
Also, the female hostels are in no way better. Meanwhile, the recruits will spend 13 months of their lives in there. An Olympic-size swimming pool is one of the facilities the college can once boost off, but have is now a breeding ground for toads.
Also, the college is known in wining medals for shooting all over West Africa but there is no shooting range anymore.
According to Jonah Mavah, the Deputy Commandant of the College, there has been no major development since establishment except for some few renovations.
The College itself was built to accommodate only 700 students but today, it contains 2,554. As for the library, the Staff says they cannot remember the last time books were supplied to the library which is full of museum pieces and antiquities called books bought in the 1970s.
There are 7 police colleges in Nigeria and a total of 18,500 constables graduated as at December 2012.
In 2013, a sum of N311 billion Naira has been budgeted for the Nigerian Police. It is hoped this money would be used judiciously and a significant part of it be allocated to improving infrastructure in the Police College and other facilities of the Nigerian Police.

Even though, news filtered in last year that Kollertunz and Flowssick had parted ways, it was speculative and unconfirmed. However, report reaching us clearly shows that what would have been considered a rumour has been confirmed true. This was made known in an official press statement released by Koller tunes, declaring that the artist is no longer signed under their label.
In the statement released today and signed by the Kollertunz boss, Kolawole Olugboyega, it was disclosed that Nigerian Rapper, Flowssick’s contract with the records was terminated over “unresolved issues”
“The management of Kollertunz Records would like to officially inform the general public of the termination of its management and working relationship with Abiola David Aina also known as “Flowssick” over protracted contract issues” the statement read.
“Our organization took this decision in the face of unresolved and complex negotiations which had been one sided with little consideration for the part of the label after years of investment and long working hours done for the establishment of our former artiste.
“We would like to state henceforth that we have no formal business relationship with flowssick and that he can be reached by any means he chooses to. We trust that the management of flowssick will observe their pledge they made to the label.” It further reads.
You will recall that 2012 witnessed a couple of splits in the music industry, including the exit of Dbanj from Mohits record now Mavin records and the separation of May D from PSquare.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday forwarded two names, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (Kebbi) and the former Vice Chancellor of University of Nsukka, Professor Chinedu Nebo (Enugu) to the Senate for screening and confirmation as Ministers.
Jonathan also asked the Senate to confirm Alhaji Suleiman Barau’s re-appointment as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Turaki and Nebo will fill the ministerial slots of Kebbi and Enugu states that became vacant following the removal of former Ministers of Defence and Power; Haliru Mohammed and Barth Nnaji.
The President said his decision was in accordance with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended. He however appealed for prompt attention to their nomination and the confirmation process.
On the re-nomination of Barau, Jonathan said his decision to re-appoint him was in line with the provisions of Section 8(1) and (2) of the CBN Act, 2007.

“Pack out,

or face,

Wife

It was yet another sequence of drama at a grade A customary court, Ojo, Lagos when a married man was threatened by his wife to pack out of her house or face her wrath.
Mr. Bede Chuks Obiadazie has been ‘squatting’ with his wife for years; he has been living in a house built by his wife and contributing less or nothing to the construction and finishing of the four-bedroom bungalow before their marriage got into troubled waters two months ago.
According to Mrs. Chinwe Obiadazie, the embattled mother of one who dragged her husband to the court, “Chuks, is an unrepentant woman beater, loves booze more than he loves me and his only daughter. With the little money he gathers from his business, he would dash off to the nearest bar and lavish it there without any remorse, only to come back home drunk, smelly and bad tempered. Thus on any provocation, he would beat me to a pulp.”
Chinwe told the honorable court that she has been the bread winner for the better part of their 12-year old marriage. She feeds Chuks, houses him, takes care of their only child and does other things a responsible man should ordinarily do as a husband, leaving him with the sole duty of procreation.
Mrs. Obiadazie also claimed that adding pepper to her ‘glorious deep wound, her estranged husband adopted a lackadaisical attitude towards all the affairs of the house, topping it all, he beats her at a slightest provocation, especially when the issue of money arises, “the major cause of our problem has always been the issue of money but I have learnt to tolerate his laziness and taken it upon myself to guarantee the wellbeing of every member of the family. I buy him clothes, food and house him yet all I get in return is his constant beating. He beats me so mercilessly that at a time I almost lost my life,”
The obviously frustrated woman went further to tell the court that as a result of the constant beating from her estranged husband, her life is being threatened , adding to the many scares he had inflicted on her. She then asked for the dissolution of their absurd marriage.
Chinwe also pleaded with the court to warn her husband to pack his belongings out of her house before she vents her over-pouring anger on him and do something radical and destructive.
“Tell this man to leave my house because I want to sell it. I promise to give him part of the money when it is eventually sold. But if he refuses to heed to my warning, I would be tempted to do to him something he would forever live to regret. His plans were to kill me, so he would take over my property, but he would not succeed, because I will not let him.
When the remorseful looking husband was called upon by the court to defend himself, he simply told the court that he wasn’t willing to let his wife go because he still loves her so much.
“Although, I am innocent of all the allegations Chinwe leveled against me, I still love her dearly and can’t consent to the dissolution of the union. To an extent, I agree that I haven’t being the best of husband but nobody is perfect. I have a financial constraint and I can’t really take care of my responsibilities, but I believe the future would be better and I need my wife and child to be part of that future.
Panic, fears and worried griped residents of Lagos on Monday following a report that by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) that a BRT bus loaded with passengers fell into the lagoon on the Third Mainland Bridge.
FRSC said this through its twitter handle, a news that sent many forced many Nigerians to dance barefooted.
Dismissing the rumour, the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA)
Mr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, has said the it was force that filtered from the pit of hell.

The Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Aminu Yusuf, Monday disclosed that the first batch of the 2,000 Dangote graduate drivers trainees will conclude their training in January, 2013.
Yusuf in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), stated the training would be done in batches of 100 participants on quarterly basis.
The programme which is spread over a period of four years would end in 2016.
The DG also disclosed that the institute was carrying out the training in conjunction with the Federal Vehicle Inspection Officers and the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
“These graduates, which include women from the Dangote Group, will undergo a three -month training because they have no knowledge of driving before being certified as drivers.
“They have graduated from different universities but have never driven vehicles before.”
“After being certified as drivers at the end of the training, they will be licensed immediately.”
“These drivers will be different from other drivers because they are not illiterates and their training is sound,’’ he said.
He said the institute was determined to provide human capital development in the transport industry.
“It is our inherent duty to provide human capacity for the entire transport industry through training and retraining, orientation skills and development and professional training.
“We feel that we should extend our services to lower cadre especially our middle level and top management training institute.’’
The NITT boss further said: “But because of frequent demands from organisations for customised training programmes for drivers, we have now designed and customised such programmes.’’
Yusuf, a Transport expert, was recently conferred with the Dr Kwame Nkrumah African distinguished Public Service Order of merit Award 2012.
