16-year-old Chinese boy wins NAFDAC school essay competition

A 16-year-old Chinese national, Precious Chem, has emerged winner of this year’s NAFDAC Annual Secondary Schools Essay Competition held in Abia.

This year’s edition which held on the 13th of October, had in attendance 14 schools.

The Chinese teenager, a student of the Living Word Academy Secondary School, Aba, after having competed with 14 others, received the award stating that he was determined to push forward even though he was not successful at the zonal and national levels of the competition.

He further called for more students’ participation in all the categories of the competition so as to make it a worthwhile exercise.

On the other hand, 13-year-old Miss Ugochinyere Eze of Dorothy International Secondary School, Aba, who came first in the junior category said the competition had further helped to expose her to the world and to develop herself for future endeavors.

Mr Gabriel Ezeaguba, the Chief Regulatory Officer of NAFDAC, Aba Special Zone, while giving his remarks, said he was impressed with the performance of the winners, adding that the agency was making plans to establish more NAFDAC Consumer Safety Clubs in Abia secondary schools as from 2013.
